The 14,000 square foot building for the Simulation Laboratory and Classroom Building for the Lander University School of Nursing will consist of five simulation laboratories, two 60-person state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratory monitoring rooms, and debrief rooms. There will also be collaborative study and huddle areas.
July 2025 Update: The foundation and slab for the new nursing building are now in place, marking a major milestone in the project. While heavy rains set construction back a few weeks, that time should be made up as progress continues. The structure steel is currently being installed, and exterior walls and sheathing are intended for July. Roof decking will also begin in July, further defining the facility’s place on campus. Substantial completion is targeted for early February. The remaining spring semester will be dedicated to installing advanced simulation equipment and the building is scheduled for a Fall 2026 opening.
May 2025 Update: Lander held its official groundbreaking for the new, state-of-the-art nursing building Tuesday, May 6 – coinciding with National Nurses Day. Lander was excited to be joined by leaders from a number of health care providers, including Self Regional Healthcare, local elected officials and representatives from Compass 5 Partners and JM Cope Construction.
March 2025 Update: Initial stages of construction are underway on Lander’s new nursing building, a one-story brick veneer building with classrooms, laboratories and collaborative spaces. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for May 6. Construction is anticipated to take around 300 days, depending on weather.
