The Lander Alumni Association is governed by the Lander Alumni Association Board of Directors (Alumni Board). All graduates and former students who completed at least 30 semester hours at Lander are members of the association.

The Alumni Board is responsible for furthering the interest of Lander University and to promote among its present and former students and friends a spirit of good fellowship and loyalty, to promote and coordinate continuing alumni activities, to assist in scholarship programs and to grow lifelong engagement of current and future alumni through service and support to aid in the advancement of Lander University.

A full term of service to the Board is three years, and the Board meets twice a year to conduct its business.

Candidates are sought who meet the following qualifications:

  1. sound judgment,
  2. strong work ethic,
  3. demonstrated service to the University and Alumni Association,
  4. leadership qualities and potential, and
  5. the desire and vision to advance the goals and objectives of the Association.

Through its nominations process, the Lander Alumni Association seeks qualified individuals to serve on its Board of Directors while also achieving a board composition that is representative of the constituency it serves. Only those who have graduated from Lander (alumni) and those who have been designated Honorary Alumni are eligible to serve on the board.

An interest/nomination form is can be found by clicking here. This form should be used to submit the name and supporting information for any candidate. Self-nominations will be accepted, but the opportunity exists for a candidate to be nominated or endorsed by one or more from a third party. All nominations must be received by close of business on April 1st each year. Candidates must submit no less than one, and up to three accompanying letters of support.

Each nomination will be forwarded to the Governance Committee, to be reviewed and screened by its membership. The Governance Committee will present its recommendations of qualified candidates to the Alumni Board of Directors, and the election of new Directors will take place during the Lander Alumni Board of Directors meeting each May.
